Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Review

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 ReviewThe Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 comes in three displays; the 7 inch, 8 inch and 10.1 inch. Below is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 review of the three.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7-inch

The 7 inch tablet debuted on 7th July and preorders began on June 25th. It comes with a 1,024X 600 pixel resolution TFT display and 8GB storage. It also features an external microSD card slot. The LCD screen has decent brightness and contrast. It however has a high reflectivity which makes it difficult to use in sunlight. It is slim and weighs about 300 grams which makes it very easy to handle.

It comes with the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS which is not the latest version. The good thing is that it comes with the latest version of the TouchWiz feature that is common in most Samsung’s smartphones. Although it does not have the Multi-window feature, you can still run several apps and switch back and forth between them using the task switcher.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0

This version of the Samsung Galaxy tab fits easily in one hand and weighs 11.1 ounces. It has a sleek design what with the narrow strips of white bezel surrounding the 8 inch display. The display has a 1280X800 resolution. The colors are brighter although the screen does have a few reflections when used in direct sunlight.

It comes with several apps and Google services such as Google Now, Play Music, Google maps and Google+. Users can have access to more than 700, 000 TV shows, movies, songs, e-books, games and apps through Google Play. It comes with 16GB of storage unlike the Galaxy tab 3 7.0 which has 8GB storage. It has a 5 megapixel rear camera which is able to capture sharp images. You can also record 720p videos. The front camera has a resolution of 1.3 megapixels which makes it quite useful for video chats if you have decent lighting.

In terms of performance, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 is equipped with a 1.5 GHz dual core Samsung Exynos 4 processor. This makes it much more responsive even with several apps running simultaneously. Its average battery life is 8 hours 39 minutes when using Wi-Fi to surf.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1

The latest entrant into the galaxy tab 3 series is the 10.1. It features a 1.6 GHz Atom with clover trail architecture which is a huge difference from the usual ARM based devices we are normally exposed to. In terms of design, this tablet is not that different from the others. It is lightweight and fits easily in one hand.

It features a 3.2 megapixel rear camera and 1.3 megapixel front one. The display is around 1280X800which is not an impressive resolution. It has the Android 4.2.2 Jelly bean OS and TouchWiz Nature UX experience. Despite it being the first to have the 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, its performance does not outshine the other tabs. It is less responsive than the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0. It also does not have the Multi-view split screen multitasking feature.

Verdict

All the tablets are excellent and come with thin light designs. You can enjoy many software features but the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 seems to take the crown and makes a better buy than the 7.0 or the 10.1. A tablet which has a 7 inch display is considered too small while one that has a display of over 9 inches is considered too big. The 8 inch display is much more acceptable. What’s more is that the Galaxy tab 3 8.0 has a higher performance and more features than the other two.
